Public Space Activations

The CSSD supports and encourages a lively Downtown through the activation and programming of public space. This includes events, bistro tables, food trucks, live concerts, movie nights, and more.

Connect the Lots Partnership

The Camden Special Services District is a proud partner of Connect the Lots. Connect the Lots is a community-driven initiative to activate Camden, New Jersey’s vacant and underutilized spaces through the identification and implementation of artistic, cultural, and recreational projects and activities to create safe and vibrant gathering places for the residents of the City of Camden.

Urban walls provide a wonderful canvas for large, vibrant, brilliantly colored murals. They add color to building walls and streets that would otherwise go unnoticed, which is a treat for locals and tourists alike. Below is a collection of murals in the Downtown.

Market Street Pop-Up Mural

The CSSD and the IDEA Center for the Arts teamed up to beautify a vacant storefront on Market Street and combat illegal graffiti. The project was completed by a team of Camden-based artists and students.
